12 - 13. LIAISON

Liaison means'linking' two words.

Words that start with a vowel sound get special treatment. French likes to have a consonant 'cover' that vowel.

For example, when a word which ends with a normally silent consonant, like 's', 't', 'd', and 'p', is followed by a word with a vowel sound, this normally silent consonant sounds.

The normally silent sound of 's' is pronounced as a 'z' and the normally silent 't' is pronounced as a 't'.
